Recreational Pond Management Workshop

This event will provide a great opportunity for pond owners and managers to gain a better understanding of what it takes to properly construct, manage, and maintain a recreational pond. The indoor presentations and demonstrations will cover it all: construction, stocking, weed and wildlife control, and everything in between. The cost for participation is FREE but pre-registration is required because seating is limited. Registration includes a seat at the workshop, lunch, and printed presentation materials and related publications. Birmingham Community Incubator

This is the second cohort of the Birmingham Community Incubator in collaboration with Salvation Army & East Lake Initiative. 12 local black and predominantly women owned start-up businesses will be chosen to participate in the 6 week business boot camp. We will teach these entrepreneurs how to effectively use the “Business Model Canvas” to organize their business. How to properly formalize their business, understand license & permit requirements, sign up for and maintain their “My Alabama Tax – MAT” accounts, develop banking and lending relationships and understand business insurance requirements through our “Filing for Success” series. throughout the program they will also have access to local partners that specialize in lending, technology and business coaching. The program will culminate with each business preparing a working budget, marketing strategy and business plan in hopes of being awarded one of the multiple $1000 grants and additional business support services provided by BCI and our partners.
