Alabama’s water resources are essential to the state’s economy, environment, and quality of life, supporting communities, industries, power generation, agriculture, transportation, wildlife, and recreation. The Alabama Cooperative Extension System, through the Auburn University Water Resources Center, offers four key programs: Alabama Water Watch trains residents to monitor water quality; Alabama Watershed Stewards educates the public on protecting watersheds; the Alabama Private Well Program supports well owners and addresses common concerns; and Alabama Drought Reach improves drought communication and impact monitoring in partnership with the state climatologist.
