More than 130,000 miles of rivers and streams etch their paths across the state of Alabama. The state has more than 3.6 million acres of wetlands and more than a half million acres of reservoir, ponds and other impoundments. Extension offers programs on recreational pond management, commercial catfish production, and oyster production among others. Water resources and their management are another important aspect of Extension efforts.
