We are a ready partner.

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is the primary outreach and engagement organization for the land-grant mission of Alabama A&M University and Auburn University in cooperation with Tuskegee University. You will find an Extension Office in all 67 Alabama counties, supported by Regional Extension Agents across the state, and Specialists at both partner universities. Our core values differentiate Extension in today’s education marketplace. We value:

  • Research-based programs, materials, and educational activities
  • Positive relationships with clients, communities, partners, and stakeholders
  • Relevant programming that addresses current societal challenges and opportunities

We help millions of Alabamians.

We reach one in three Alabamians, providing research-based educational programs in agriculture; forestry, wildlife, and natural resources; family and consumer sciences; economic and community development; 4-H and youth development; and urban affairs.

We use innovative methods to deliver educational content to communities and homes.

Our information and programs are available online, or in person at County Extension Offices and teaching sites throughout Alabama communities. Our website (aces.edu) has current information about 4-H, Farming, Fish and Water, Food Safety, Forestry and Wildlife, Home and Family, Lawn and Garden, and Urban Extension. The website can help you find online courses, mobile apps, interactive videoconferences, and webinars. Our face-to-face learning opportunities include community meetings, classroom demonstrations, field days, farm or home visits and 4-H clubs and camps. A majority of our programs are offered at no cost to the client.

We build strong and effective partnerships.

We have been in the partnership business for a century to secure private partnerships and deliver programs. We receive funding and resources from the following: federal, state, and county appropriations, federal grants, and county donations of office space and utilities. Private, corporate and foundation gifts and grants also provide critical support for Extension programs.

We advance Alabama.

In our rapidly changing digital era, Alabama Extension continues to lead in research and problem-solving. Our educational outreach spans the state creating economic opportunities for residents, providing the latest resources for improving lives, producing game-changing young people with unlimited potential, and offering practical solutions to real-world problems. Our annual report details how Alabama Extension serves our state and summarizes the Return on Investment in Extension programs.

How we achieve our goals.
