CANCELED – Workshop Description: MidSouth RC&D is supporting the continuation of the Alabama Rivers Educator Workshops based on An Educator’s Guide to Alabama Rivers Curriculum. The curriculum will assist educators to impart Alabama rivers related knowledge, inspiration, and challenges to young students throughout the state.

The curriculum correlates to the Alabama Course of Study Standards for Social Studies, Science, Social Science, Arts and more for grades 4-7, but is adaptable for any grade!

During the one-day workshop, participants will receive instruction on how to use the curriculum with their students.

SDFI is a yearlong program designed for people with prediabetes. It is also designed for people who are at high risk for type 2 diabetes and want to lower their risk.

Tomato Workshop

The topics discussed at this tomato meeting include variety
selection, tomato disease identification, and tomato insect
identification. We will also have a tomato taste test. If you
would like to bring tomatoes for the taste test, bring about 3 of
your best tomatoes of the same variety to the meeting (i.e. 3
Better Boys). You can bring tomatoes from more than one
variety if you like, just make sure you keep the varieties
separated. Small tomatoes are welcome, but bring enough that
everyone can have a small slice.

Power of Produce (POP) at the Farmers Markets

The Power of Produce (POP) program is held on Saturday mornings May until October at the Festhalle and Berlin Farmers Markets from 8 AM – Noon. Children (under 13) are encouraged to enjoy a small snack made of local produce. As a reward, the child receives 2 POP Bucks to spend on fresh produce at a farmers booth in the market.

Participate in this FREE event, which encourages our youth to eat healthy and nutritious produce and supports our local farmers!
