Veterans Gardening Project at Landmark Park

Veterans of all ages, active-duty military, and their families or support networks are invited to join us for a casual gardening project. The Veteran’s Gardening Project will host a series of workshops that will cover gardening basics for those getting started and advanced topics for our seasoned gardeners. We will work in the raised bed gardens at Landmark Park to grow everything from squash to native pollinator beds. A short workday in the garden will follow each educational demonstration, weather-dependent.

At Home Beekeeping Series

We’re offering beekeepers the chance to attend virtual meetings from the comfort of one’s own home using a computer or mobile device. Speakers include university researchers and extension specialists from across the SE US as well as USDA ARS researchers. Each event will bring participants up to date on timely beekeeping topics with time for Q & A included.

Herd Bull Selection Workshop

Herd bull selection is one of the most critical aspects of cow/calf production. Come and learn about EPD basics and what traits to look for based on your production goals. We will go over tips for successful navigation of bull sale / AI sire catalogs. Bull phenotype will be covered through hands-on demonstrations. Bulls will be on-site for EPD and phenotype evaluation (mini judging class). We will also have a hands-on calving simulator component, where participants will learn basics about caving difficulties and how to help deliver calves.
