Landowner’s Guide to Herbicides

Herbicides are a commonly used tool in land management. Whether they’re being used in forested areas or around water, important factors should be considered. This workshop will provide landowners with the information and guidance to more safely and efficiently apply herbicides on their property. Topics include: Pesticide Rules and Regulations, Introduction to Private Applicator Permit, Cost Share Opportunities for Landowners, Forestry Herbicides and Application Methods for Common Management Goals, Sprayer Calibration Methods, Invasive Species Identification and Management, and Managing Vegetation In and Around Waterways.

Etowah County Tomato Taste-Off

The Etowah County Tomato Taste-Off will take place on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the 5th Street Market in Downtown Gadsden. The event is co-sponsored by Downtown Gadsden Inc.
Bring your best tomatoes to claim the award for the best tomato in two categories – Slicing and Cherry Tomatoes. We will have separate awards for best youth-grown tomato and heaviest tomato.
Registration is free and is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The event will feature several booths and workshops with information on tomato production, Master Gardeners, preservation of tomatoes, and including tomatoes in a healthy diet.
