This registration is for an individual wishing to take the ServSafe exam without the class. You will have 2 hours to complete the exam. Exam materials will be provided, but please bring a photo ID. If you need ADA accommodations or a different language exam, please contact Christy at 205-217-6495 and allow for 2 weeks preparation time.
In this one day training you will learn about permeable pavement design, construction, performance, and maintenance. Permeable pavement is considered a Low Impact Development (LID) initiative and can offer an aesthetic way to mimic natural hydrology by enabling stormwater to be treated onsite. By allowing the pavement system to function as an inlet to filter and distribute water into a subsurface storage system below, permeable pavement can improve groundwater recharge and reduce stormwater runoff from a site. This workshop is part of the Alabama Watershed Stewards program housed under the Auburn University Water Resource Center and is funded by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and EPA Region 4 through a Clean Water Act 319(h) grant. This training is intended for permeable pavement installers and maintenance professionals, stormwater designers, professional engineers, professional landscape architects, municipal and county landscape personnel, as well as property managers and owners.

The Coosa Valley Resource Conservation and Development Council hosted by the Etowah County Extension Office will be giving away vegetable garden seeds and a gallon bag of 8-8-8 fertilizer; the first 10 persons will have the option of a 40 qt. bag of Miracle Gro All Purpose Soil or the 8 gallon bag of fertilizer. We will have seeds for late summer and fall plantings.

Julian Cosner, from the Entomology and Plant Pathology Department at the University of Tennessee, will be discussing the impact of corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea, on hemp, Cannabis sativa, and the influence of varietal characteristics on larval damage in Tennessee.

Pollinators play an important role in our native ecosystems, home landscapes and food production. Join us for a program devoted to attracting these beneficials to your landscape! Extension Agent Lucy Edwards will discuss annual and perennial flowers that grow well for your in-ground, raised bed and container gardens. Attendees will receive an Alabama Smart Yard booklet and seeds. We will also be giving away a few perennials to incorporate to your garden!
