This event provides training and testing for private applicator license required by growers to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides on their farm or operation. A written exam follows the training. There is a fee of $20 payable to ACES at the door. Due to COVID, registration is limited to 15 and preregistration is required. Invasive Plant Management Workshop

This event will provide an overview of some of the most common invasive and non-native plantsthat landowners and managers must control in Alabama and the throughout the southeast. Powerpoint
presentations will discuss why plants are invasive as well as how to identify and control plants with a variety of methods, with special focus on mechanical and chemical controls. Native alternatives will also be discussed. HEMP (Hemp Education and Management Program) Webinar Series: USDA Hemp Final Rule

Dr. Paul Goeringer is an extension specialist at the University of Maryland who specializes in legal risk management in agriculture. He will cover the USDA final rule that provides regulations for the production of hemp that will go into effect on March 22, 2021. His presentation will also include other legal considerations around contracts, intellectual property, and nuisance issues.

Learn to Burn – Mobile Co.

Details:
Attendees will experience this day long “start to finish”
prescribed burn. Up to twenty participants will be
accepted and assigned to crews. Each crew will be led by experienced, Alabama Certified Prescribed Burn
Managers. Participants will have access all day to
observe, ask questions, and gain EXPERIENCE with ignition and holding.
Date: March 1 – 5, 2021** First available burn day. Participants will be given 2 days advance notice.
Location: Mobile County, AL area. Specific location will be provided to those who register.
Requirements:
This is a live fire event in the field. Participants should expect to spend most of the day on their feet walking around the burn unit. Participants need to wear natural fiber clothing (jeans, long-sleeve cotton shirts, leather boots), no synthetic materials. Covid-19 protocols will be followed; maintaining a safe distance, face coverings (flame resistant neck gaiters are available from Amazon).
