A Guide to Healthy Landscape Trees

This workshop will review various pests and diseases that are likely to be a challenge in landscape trees as a result of the 2019 drought. Attendees will learn to diagnose, treat and manage landscape trees under drought stress. The workshop will conclude with a presentation on identifying and evaluating trees for risk and safety concerns.

Alabama Private Training Course in Region 4

These classes are designed for the farmers who need to take the private pesticide applicator test in order to purchase restricted use products. However, we will be discussing chemical safety and sprayer calibration at this class, so anyone who sprays pesticides on a large scale will benefit from this training even if a restricted pesticide license is not needed. If you would like to attend any of these classes call the Extension Office of the County you want to attend and make your reservation as seating is limited in some locations. A fee of $20 will be charged for this training and testing. An additional licensing fee of $25 will be sent to the Department of Agriculture and Industries by the applicant. The licensing fee is not included in the training and testing fee. Please plan to pay with a check (checks are preferred) made out the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) in the amount of $20 or with the correct cash amount. See event website for details. ** Alabama Water Watch, in partnership with the US Forest Service, is excited to announce the launch of a new water monitoring project in the National Forests of Alabama! Volunteer citizens will gather water chemistry and bacteriological monitoring data on select stream locations within the National Forests of Alabama.

This 2-day workshop will be held on February 7 & 8 2020.

Day 1 – CASIC Building (559 Devall Dr, Auburn, AL 36830)
1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Day 2 – Tuskegee National Forest
8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

This workshop will cover information related to the water environment, forests and watershed health, pollution, water quality standards, and data management. Workshop participants will be trained and certified in AWW Water Chemistry and Bacteriological Monitoring. During Day 2 of each workshop, participants will head outdoors to conduct monitoring practices and visit pre-selected monitoring sites on the National Forests.
Participants must attend both workshop days to receive both certifications.
