Urban Affairs and New Nontraditional Programs
Volume 5, Number 2 January - March 2006

The 2005 hurricane season is finally over! A total of 23 hurricanes hit our shores and inlands with Katrina and Rita bringing the greatest destruction.

The following stories are just a few examples of how the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (Extension) aided and continues to help families and individuals to recover from these deadly storms. Clearly, these are examples of Extension doing what it does best---improving the quality of life for people. These stories also speak to the resiliency of the human spirit to recover time and time again.

It will take years for these regions to gain some sense of normalcy, but it will only take us a few weeks or even a few days to prepare our homes and our families from unexpected natural and manmade disasters.

Are you prepared?
