STAR Disaster Preparedness: One Must Always
Be Prepared

Are the images of Katrina victims
from New Orleans seared in your mind? Do you still feel vulnerable
to a manmade or natural disaster? Is there still a need for you
and your family to develop a disaster survival kit? What plans
have you set in place for elderly parents and other relatives?
Disasters can strike quickly. They can be catastrophic, even
fatal to many citizens in the affected area. By helping you create
a family disaster plan and prepare a special disaster kit, the
bounce back bag of survival resources, a disastrous event in
your family or community may be more manageable.
Feeling empowered in the face of a disaster through proper
preparation can make a significant difference in your ability
to bounce back. To have at your disposal a winner's bag of survival
resources is exactly what Savings Towns thru Asset Revitalization
or (STAR)'s Bounce Back Bag (BBB) offers and YOU do not need
to order anything to set-up your bag. Just follow the instructions
provided to you when you link to the brochure, STAR Disaster
Preparedness; put a three-five day supply of items in a sturdy
back pack or school book bag for each family member; and place
them close to a convenient exit door. Also, you can place BBBs
in all family vehicles. Then, when disaster strikes and your
family must quickly leave their home or car, they'll simply put
a BBB on and start
their journey to safety.
Don't relive the dreadful conditions endured by the Katrina
victims from the ninth ward of New Orleans or the less-publicized
victims from south Alabama. BE PREPARED! In the face of disaster
take personal responsibility for your health and well-being.
Have your Bounce Back Bag ready!
