About Faith-Based Gardens

The Faith-Based Garden website is a project spearheaded by Urban Regional Extension Agent Jerry Chenault, and a vital component of Saving Towns Thru Asset Revitalization (STAR).

"STAR provides opportunities for the creation of nontraditional networks in order to pursue Tree City USA status, outdoor learning habitats with an emphasis on intergenerational human interaction and social development, disaster relief and emergency preparedness services, and capacity-building and fundraising strategies for improved organizational and community empowerment."

- Marilyn Simpson-Johnson, STAR Coordinator and Extension Specialist

In keeping with the vision of STAR, this website provides research-based resources designed to engage Extension audiences in the exploration of faith-based gardens. Faith-based gardens are ideal green spaces that can be used for educational and other activities that help to improve the health and well-being of communities and individuals of all ages.
