Civil Rights

When working with an adult clientele, it is important that these individuals are aware of their civil rights related to the Nutrition Education Program in Alabama.

Because of the public funds NEP receives, there are certain requirements in place to ensure that participants are aware of these rights.

If you are working with an ADULT audience that is NOT at the county food assistance office, you must have a Human Resources and Civil Rights brochure available and say the following statement at some point during your presentation:

If you feel you are being discriminated against, you can file a complaint. The procedure is available in this pamphlet.

You do NOT have to use this statement when you: (1) teach adults at the county food assistance office and (2) teach ANY youth program, including schools.

For a copy of the DHR brochure, Human Resources and Civil Rights, click here.

When working with both a youth and adult audience in all locations EXCEPT a DHR office, you must display a copy of the And Justice for All poster. You MUST use version B (475B.pdf). This version is different from the ACES version. To print a copy of this 11"x17" poster, click here.
