Monitor Your Progress

Each participant is asked to walk at least 320 miles over three months—from August to October. This distance is equivalent to walking from AAMU to the state line between Alabama and Florida. Download the Challenge at a Glance sheet for suggested weekly and monthly goals.

Walking Like a CHAMPION

The Walk Across Alabama Challenge is an activity of Walking Like a CHAMPION, a fitness program designed to increase regular physical activity and reduce risk factors associated with chronic diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. The program combines walking, aerobic dance, and muscle-strengthening exercises that are adaptable to all fitness levels. Each session helps to improve strength, endurance, balance, and self-confidence while allowing participants to progress at a comfortable pace in a supportive environment.
