Piedmont Plateau Fall Bird Walk

Hosted by Alabama Extension and FRIENDS of the Wood Duck Nature Preserve of Opelika
Saturday, 7 October 2023. Refreshments at 7:30 am. Walk at 8:00 am.

Please join friends from neighboring Piedmont counties for a casual bird walk to viewing blinds around the lagoon. The distance may vary from one to two miles, your choice. The trails are dry and in great condition. We will travel slowly, taking notes on all the wonders of nature.

This field trip coincides with the Fall Nature Walk at Wood Duck Nature Preserve. FRIENDS of the Wood Duck Nature Preserve will provide guides to assist with field identification.

The FRIENDS group will also provide refreshments and coffee beginning at 7:30 am. The bird walk will start at 8:00 am. There will be “loaner” binoculars for use. All levels of bird watching, and nature appreciation are welcome.

Wood Duck Nature Park is site #10 on the Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail. We will meet at the pavilion located on 3601 Waverly Parkway in Opelika, one-half mile from the Birmingham Highway/US 280. GPS N 32*39,193’ W 085*
