Horse U

Auburn University Department of Animal Sciences, 217 Upchurch Hall, Auburn University, AL 36849

Horse U is a program designed to educate youth about the U.S. Equine Industry and is led by undergraduate students enrolled in the ANSC 2400 Horse U Program Planning course. Younger participants will rotate to different hands-on stations with topics such as nutrition, learning about tack and equipment, and parts of the horse. Advanced youth of high-school age will explore more advanced topics such as body condition scoring, calculating fecal egg counts, and coat color genetics and even have the opportunity to learn about the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. This event is unique in that the curriculum changes each year!
