Alabama Cottage Food Law at the Tuskegee Farmers Conference

Empowering Farmers Project will be conducting a Cottage Food Law Training as a part of the Tuskegee Farmers Conference on March 13, 2024. The Alabama Cottage Food Law went into effect in 2014 and was revised in 2021. The law states that individuals can produce certain nonhazardous foods in their homes. A person operating a food business under the Cottage Food Law must attend and pass a food safety course approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health every 3 years. An approved course is the one taught by Alabama Extension or any American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited food safety program. This course will be offered for FREE as a part of the Empowering Farmers Project. This project was supported all, or in part, by the Food Safety Outreach Program a grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, United States Department of Agriculture. Award Number: 2021-70020-35680. Lunch will be provided by the Tuskegee Farmers Conference at 12:00-1:00pm
