Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)
Purple coneflower is a showy, native wildflower that grows between 3 and 4 feet tall. In groupings, these plants are great for full-to-partial-sun areas along borders or in pollinator gardens, meadows, or naturalized areas. Purple coneflower is a summer long standout with pinkish purple blooms that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. After flowering, this plant provides seed for goldfinches and other songbirds, as well as nesting habitat for native bees. Because of this, gardeners should leave them standing through the winter and spring. Many cultivars with different flower colors and plant heights have been developed for more gardening options.
