Lanceleaf Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata)
Spreading naturally and blooming bright with daisy-like flowers from May through July, lanceleaf coreopsis feeds pollinators, fills vases with sunny flowers, and keeps birds coming back for seed. This wildlife-friendly perennial has a tendency to spread both by rhizomes and self seeding. Its flowers attract many pollinators, including bees, wasps, flies, butterflies, skippers, day-flying moths, and beetles. In fact, as many as twenty-two native bee species rely on plants in the Coreopsis genus. By deadheading these flowers, people can control seed production and encourage new blooms.
