Join the Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Lend an Ear program as it partners with Alabama Governor Kay Ivey’s Summer Reading Challenge. Take the challenge to read six books of your choice during summer break and track your progress using the reading log found at the link below. This challenge is a way to foster a love of reading and build literacy skills.
Who Should Participate?
Alabama students entering kindergarten through eighth grade are encouraged to participate.
Program Timeline
Students can participate throughout the summer break until July 24.

Complete the Reading Log
Once you’ve finished reading all six books, write or draw a picture that shares what you have learned about the United States of America. Fill out and return the completed Summer Reading Challenge Reading Log to your local county Extension office.
