Many parents and guardians want to teach their children smart money habits but struggle with time, resources, or confidence. The Earnie the Eagle Money as You Grow Book Club makes financial learning fun and easy by using children’s books as a foundation for money conversations.

Benefits

Research shows that lifelong money habits begin forming as early as preschool. With help from Earnie the Eagle, families can build a strong foundation for financial wellbeing. Through reading, play, and family discussions, children and parents/guardians explore key financial concepts like spending, saving, planning, and goal-setting.

• Engage children with 21 carefully selected books that introduce money concepts in a fun, age-appropriate way.
• Strengthen family money conversations through guided discussions and activities.
• Help children develop positive money habits like patience, problem-solving, and independence.
• Connect with local libraries, community leaders, and Extension experts for additional support.

The Earnie the Eagle Money as You Grow Book Club is adapted from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and supported by a grant from the Tombigee RC&D Council. The Alabama Cooperative Extension System Human Sciences team provides content support and a kiosk for youth financial literacy at the Hale County Library in Greensboro, Alabama.
