The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is eggcited to host Cooptastic, an event like no other! Cooptastic is a one-day conference designed specifically to cover information related owning and managing backyard flocks.

What is Cooptastic?

Cooptastic is made just for backyard flock poultry owners. It is open to all current or future backyard flock owners from across Alabama and the nation. At this conference, you will join your fellow feathered-friend enthusiasts to learn about the ins and outs of keeping chickens. Chickens are great fun to keep and can be kept for both egg and meat production.

Alabama Extension wants you to have access to the highest quality information possible because you and your flock deserve only the best. At the end of the day, you are responsible for the decisions affecting your flock. At this event, poultry professionals will help you make those decisions by arming you with specific information designed for backyard flock owners.

When: March 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where:  The Alabama 4-H Center located at 892 Four H Road, Columbiana, AL, 35051. For those traveling a greater distance, there are on-site hotel rooms available for reservation. Contact the Alabama 4-H Center at 205-669-4241 for information on booking a room.

Cost: $20 (lunch included)

Registration is required to attend this conference. To register, visit the Alabama Extension Store. The deadline to register is February 18.

Topics and Speakers

Cooptastic will cover a variety of topics that answer some of the burning questions you may have. Why is that chicken exhibiting a certain behavior and what does it mean? Can I change what I feed to my chickens to save money? What does it mean when feed companies advertise that they use a feed ingredient that I have not heard of before? What can I do better to keep internal parasites away from my flock? These questions and more will be addressed at the conference.

Speakers for Cooptastic will include poultry scientists and other knowledgeable professionals. They will discuss some of the hottest topics related to keeping chickens and poultry.
