Thoughts from Aliana

During my time with the Lee County Extension office, I hope to grow in all fields. Professionally, I am eager to learn the ins and outs of an Extension office and all the services it has to offer. Extension plays an important role in each community, and I am excited to see how I can do my part in serving a greater cause. Personally, I simply hope to establish relationships with those who have already made their way in the field and to learn from every opportunity presented before me.

All aspects of Alabama Extension are interesting to me. However, I am leaning more toward 4-H and youth development. I would not be who I am or where I am today if it were not for a similar organization to 4-H, so being able to be the person that makes an impact on the next generation of agriculture would give me no greater joy. I believe that there is always room to grow in all areas, but this summer, I wish to specifically build my ability to take initiative in tasks that would put me in charge. I am typically more of a behind-the-scenes worker, but I know that I will eventually have to step out from behind the curtain, and I feel ready to take action in that this summer.
