The specialists discuss the large scale of Brazilian agriculture, the eye-opening experience of seeing fields stretch for miles without a fence row in sight, and the unique production challenges growers face in a tropical environment.

“To stand in a location and not see any fence line or field edge for as long as you could see…But it’d be nothing but cotton corn or soybean fields for miles was pretty eye opening.” — David Russell

Despite the differences, one takeaway stood out: farmers in Brazil are facing many of the same economic pressures as producers in Alabama amid rising costs and tight commodity prices.

“Every farmer nowadays is struggling with commodity prices and the cost of inputs. So everyone is struggling to make a living out of farming, so we’ve got to be very efficient on what you do and how you do it.” — Eros Francisco
