Shoals Area Invasive Plant Project

Deibert Park, 2810 Darby Dr, Florence, AL 35630

Join us for the first of three sessions as part of the 2024 Shoals Area Invasive Plant Project in partnership with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, City of Florence, TVA, and the Land Trust of North Alabama.

There are three event dates for 2024:
August 23 – Deibert Park, Florence
September 13 – TVA Native Plant Garden, Muscle Shoals
September 27 – Cane Creek Nature Preserve, Tuscumbia

For these events we will begin the morning with a 1-hour “walk and talk” to identify the invasive plant species that we see along the paved trails in the location for that day. Following this portion, we will have an optional 2-hour volunteer opportunity to gain hands on experience with controlling the invasive plant species we encounter. Your participation is encouraged for the added benefit of controlling the non-native invasive plants in our valuable community green spaces.
Please keep in mind that this event will require walking on paved and unpaved surfaces.

Snacks and water will be available. Certificates of participation can be provided with advanced notice.
