Marion County Learn to Burn

Northwest Marion County, Address will be provided closer to event., Shottsville Area, AL 35593

This is a one-day event that will be held on the *first available burn day* (weather dependent) during the week of March 11 – March 15. Registrants will receive initial communication during the week before the burn and given 2 days advance notice of the confirmed burn date.
Details: Attendees will experience a full day “start to finish” prescribed burn. Up to thirty participants will be accepted and assigned to crews. Each crew will be led by experienced, Alabama Certified Prescribed Burn Managers. Participants will have access all day to observe, ask questions, and gain experience with ignition and holding.
Requirements: This is a live fire event in the field. Participants should expect to spend most of the day on their feet walking around the burn unit. Participants need to wear natural fiber clothing (jeans, long-sleeve cotton shirts, leather boots), no synthetic materials. Lunch provided.
