Proper pruning and chainsaw techniques are important for many homeowners and land managers to know. These not only ensure that the vegetation you are managing meets your goals but so that the job is completed as safely as possible. These techniques and associated equipment will be discussed and demonstrated at the Homeowner’s Pruning & Chainsaw Safety Workshop on Tuesday, September 6, from 9:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at The Noccalula Falls Park Kiwanis Pavillion, 1500 Noccalula Rd. Gadsden, AL. The workshop will provide homeowners with a great opportunity to better understand what it takes for proper and safe pruning and chainsaw operation in a homeowner setting. Indoor presentations and outdoor demonstrations will discuss the timing and technique by type (ornamental, fruit, & large trees), equipment, and resources related to pruning, along with aspects of chainsaw safety including protective equipment, saw design, ergonomics, basic practices (starting, limbing, bucking, felling), and new technology. Participants must pre-register for $15 by visiting http://www.aces.edu/go/####. Registration includes a seat at the presentations and demonstrations, lunch, and printed materials.
