Allowing bucks to survive to older age classes is one of the essential steps when managing deer populations for antlers size. As bucks grow older, and their bodies develop, more energy is targeted towards antler development. Being able to recognize and categorize live deer into age classes based on body characteristics is an important deer management tool.
