ALABAMA A&M UNIVERSITY, Ala. — Join the Alabama Cooperative Extension System for the Spring 2026 Community Garden Expo on the beautiful grounds of the Longleaf Botanical Gardens in Anniston, Alabama.
The Spring 2026 Community Garden Expo will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Longleaf Event Hall, 920 Museum Drive, Anniston, Alabama. Admission is $10, which includes lunch and snacks. Register online at www.aces.edu/go/CGExpo.
“This year, participants can explore two local community gardens and see the dos and don’ts of running a successful community garden,” said Allyson Shabel, an Alabama Extension urban home horticulture agent at Alabama A&M University.
Other event topics will include the following:
- Planting throughout the year to maximize harvest
- Measuring for success
- Composting
- Planting microgardens in 5-gallon buckets
- Adding fruit trees and shrub crops
- Saving seeds
- Maintaining equipment
Attendees can also engage in a seed swap, possibly win a fruit tree and network with other people who share their passion for gardening.
