How to Prepare
- For wedges
- Remove damaged outer leaves and rinse with cold water.
- Cut in half lengthwise, remove the core and cut into smaller wedges.
- For shredded cabbage
- Cut into wedges, lay flat, and slice lengthwise for long shreds or crosswise for short shreds.
- For chopped cabbage
- Cut into wedges, lay flat, slice lengthwise into 1-inch strips, then cut crosswise into 1-inch pieces.
How to Enjoy
- Use shredded in slaws or ferment for sauerkraut.
- Add to soups, salads, tacos, or stir-fry.
- Make cabbage rolls by stuffing whole leaves with lean protein, vegetables, and whole grains.
- Serve as a side dish after roasting, boiling, sautéing, or steaming as a side dish.

Recipes
Southern Cooked Cabbage 
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 head cabbage, chopped
- 1 ½ cups broth
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Directions
- In a large pot, heat the oil. Add remaining ingredients and stir.
- Bring to a boil. Then, immediately reduce heat to a simmer and cover.
- Simmer for 12 to 15 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
Sautéed Cabbage
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 head of cabbage, shredded
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- Optional: salt, thyme
Directions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium high.
- Add the cabbage and pepper.
- Sauté for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and begins to brown.
- Remove from heat and stir in apple cider vinegar.
- Sprinkle with optional seasonings, if desired.
Simple Cabbage Side
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 head of cabbage, shredded
- Optional: salt, pepper
Directions
- In a large bowl, whisk together all ingredients, except the cabbage.
- Add cabbage and toss to coat.
- Let stand for 10 minutes. Toss again before serving.
