Forestry
Most entry-level workers start as ground workers. This course introduces the skills needed to be a successful and productive ground worker who is able to advance into more-technical and higher-paying jobs within the industry. The course will review knots, rigging, safety protocols, traffic management, and the operation of common equipment that ground workers will operate, such as chippers.
Course Objectives
Introduce audiences to 1) opportunities to advance and grow careers in the field of arboriculture, 2) basic knots and rigging procedures, and 3) worksite, traffic, and chipper safety.
Course Learning Objectives*
Upon completion, participants will be able to accomplish the following:
- Describe the key responsibilities of a ground worker.
- Identify credentials and training opportunities that support career advancement in arboriculture and urban forestry.
- Demonstrate basic knots used for rigging and collaboration with aerial crews.
- Apply fundamental rigging practices safely and effectively.
- Follow proper traffic safety procedures at the worksite.
- Implement basic worksite safety protocols.
- Explain and apply chipper safety procedures.

Course Instructor
The training will be conducted by an industry instructor who is familiar with the commercial-tree-care industry.
Certificates
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
