Forestry
The field of arboriculture—the care and maintenance of trees—is regarded as one of the most dangerous industries in the United States. Most injuries are related to chainsaws, electrical hazards, and working in aerial situations. This one-day course will review how to safely work around power lines and protocols for downed wires or trees that are in contact with energized wires. Energized wires are a major safety risk for tree workers, causing numerous fatalities each year. The course will also review the safety procedure for working in aerial lifts, a common piece of equipment used in the maintenance of mature trees.
Course Objectives
Train audiences to 1) identify electrical hazards and recommended operating procedures and 2) apply best management practices for working safely from aerial lifts.
