AUBURN UNIVERSITY, Ala. — Every day in communities across the state, Alabama Cooperative Extension System employees deliver compelling educational programs featuring research-backed information that helps improve lives. During Alabama Extension Week, April 12-18, they are taking that impact a step further with the Alabama Extension Week Webinar Series, which includes 14 free webinars people can enjoy from the comfort of their homes and workplaces.

From farmers and entrepreneurs to caretakers of plants and people, the webinar series provides something for everyone. Mike Clardy, director of Communications, Strategic Marketing and Client Relations for Alabama Extension at Auburn University, said showcasing a broad range of topics was a priority during planning.

“We wanted this series to emphasize that research-backed information from Alabama Extension covers agriculture, health, human sciences, natural resources, finances and more,” Clardy said. “Attending just one of these sessions will provide you with knowledge you can immediately put to use in your daily life. When it comes to delivering actionable information, Extension does that.”

Topics covered in the Alabama Extension Week Webinar Series range from improving agricultural practices and managing invasive species to small business success and sharing homegrown produce with others.

Choosing a Webinar

Different Alabama Extension agents and specialists from Auburn and Alabama A&M universities will lead the webinars. Starting times range from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and programs will run 30 minutes to an hour.

“Evening webinars were selected purposefully to allow people to participate outside of normal work hours,” Clardy said. “However, we also hope that managers will seize this as an opportunity for a lunch-and-learn event or team-building activity for their departments. While some content is intended for specific audiences, the majority of these webinars have wide appeal.”
