Marshall County Extension Director Kristen Roberson was selected for Class VII of the Agricultural Leaders for Alabama (A.L.F.A. Leaders) program. Over two years, the group of 14 leaders will participate in six seminars in Alabama, Washington, D.C., and a to-be-determined international location. The first meeting will take place in September with the program culminating in summer 2028 as the group presents its capstone project.
“I have a strong passion for advocating for our state’s agricultural community,” Roberson said. “I look forward to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grow my network and strengthen my skills to better serve the farmers and agricultural producers who serve us so well.”
Individuals in this group of agricultural leaders were chosen based on a strenuous application and interview process. Selection criteria included community involvement, personal ability and character.
A.L.F.A. Leaders is sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation. The program focuses on individual leadership development, political involvement, effective communication and grassroots advocacy.
“A.L.F.A. Leaders is Alabama’s premier ag leadership initiative,” said Ag Leadership Programs Director Hunter McBrayer, who is a Class IV graduate. “It refines leadership and creates better advocates for agriculture across local communities, Alabama and our country.”
More than 300 participants have graduated from A.L.F.A. Leaders and its predecessor, the Alabama Agriculture and Forestry Leadership Development Program.
