The Alabama 4-H Foundation is awarding thirty-five scholarships to high school seniors in 2026, each in the amount of $1,500. These additional 4-H Scholarships are available through the same application process:
- Barbara D. Thorne, $2,000
- Beth and Dr. Thomas Elliott, $1,500 (Auburn University)
- The Castellows, three at $3,000 (Barbour and Houston Counties, agriculture majors)
Scholarships can be used for post-secondary education for which you have been accepted or plan to pursue (i.e., college, university, community college, or trade school).

Application Requirements
Applicants must be high school graduating seniors. Complete applications must be submitted through 4HOnline and be received by March 2, 2026. Applications must include the following:
- 4HOnline application
- Your 4-H Story
- Resume
- Letter of recommendation
4-H Story Format Guidelines
The title of the essay should be “How Alabama 4-H Has Changed My Life.” Your story may not exceed 500 double-spaced words. Check your spelling and grammar. Please format as follows:
- Use Arial or Times New Roman, 12–point font, and one-inch margins.
- Save as a PDF, and upload into 4HOnline.
Resume Guidelines
Limit your resume to one page. When your resume is complete, save it as a PDF and upload into 4HOnline.
Guidelines for Letter of Recommendation
A letter of recommendation is required. A good letter of recommendation supports your achievements, skills, and service. Save the letter of recommendation as a PDF, and upload into 4HOnline. The letter of recommendation should be from a non-family member. This could include a 4-H staff member, school administrator, teacher, or coach.
Application Review and Timeline
Applications will be available in 4HOnline for seniors on December 1, 2025 through March 2, 2026. Applications are due in 4HOnline by 11:59 p.m. on March 2, 2026. No extensions will be granted. Scholarship notifications will be sent by April 1, 2026.
Scholarship Recipients
Students and parents/guardians will be invited to 4-H Competitive Events Day June 26, 2026, to formally recognize scholarship winners. 4-H would also like to recognize 4-H scholarship recipients at high school scholarship days.
Scholarship payments for tuition and fees will be made from the Alabama 4-H Foundation directly to the student’s post-secondary institution to be used in the 2026–27 academic year.
