Jeremy Pickens received the Duncan Award from the Alabama Farmers Federation at the annual Farm and Land Conference in Mobile, Ala. The award recognizes Pickens’s commitment to serving Alabama’s green industry and growers as an Extension horticulture specialist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Auburn University.
“I am very grateful for receiving this award,” Pickens said. “It’s validation and affirmation that I am making an impact and helping people. Having farmers nominate me means more than any award I could ever get.”
The award comes with $5,000 for continued Extension programming. Pickens said the funding will help expand services for Alabama nurseries by increasing irrigation testing and monitoring container nutrition. This additional data will help growers make management decisions while supporting future research.
