Case Study, Gadsden Stream Restoration Projects

Stream restoration and mitigation requirements are moving more and more towards natural channel design techniques. This 2 day workshop will introduce basic concepts of stream restoration using natural channel design. Time will be split between classroom and field work, including project / data summaries and evening work sessions if necessary.

Classroom work will review natural channel design principles, restoration case studies, and the Rosgen classification system. Field techniques for stream condition assessment and the Rosgen classification system will be covered in detail. Two completed stream restoration projects in Gadsden will be used as case studies.

Greg Jennings, Ph.D., P.E. of North Carolina State University will emphasize stream conditions specific to the southeastern U.S. Workshop instructors have experience working on more than 40 stream assessments and restoration projects throughout the Southeast.

1.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from Auburn University available.

Workshop participants will receive the NC State Stream Restoration Institute's
