QUESTION:
How can grey water recycling reduce fresh water use?
ANSWER:
Grey water can replace fresh water in many instances, saving money and increasing the effective water supply in regions where individual landscape irrigation is needed. Residential water use is almost evenly split between indoor and outdoor use in many regions of the country, with most of the outdoor use going to irrigation purposes. All waste water except toilet water could be recycled outdoors, achieving the same result with significantly less water diverted from natural supplies, treated to make it suitable for drinking and then used to irrigate plants.
