Natural Resources Webinar Series -The Importance of Native Plants in Landscapes

Online, AL

Native plants provide a great many benefits when used in traditional landscaping. Plants native to a region and adapted to the site conditions require far less maintenance than typically used nonnatives. More importantly, however, native plants are better at providing habitat required by native wildlife. There is a rapidly growing interest among the public to create elements such as pollinator gardens and songbird habitat within home landscapes. The use of native plants need not ignore aesthetic considerations or deed restriction requirements, but it does require us to select plants for the function they will provide and not just as beautification.
