Canning Workshop – Montgomery

Food preservation workshop designed to teach participants safe canning methods through use of waterbath canning, pressure, freezing, drying, and pickling canning methods. The water bath canning method will be demonstrated. Participants learn the principles of proper selection and washing of all fruits and vegetables; proper equipment selection for canning type to prevent botulism; selection of products and gadgets used for canning; importance of using USDA approved recipes; techniques that will yield high quality and safe products. Upon completion, the participants are given an evaluation to assess knowledge. Participants were given an Extension Food Preservation Cookbook to enforce safe use of approved recipes.
Samples will also be given.
