AUBURN UNIVERSITY, Ala. – This Food Friday, Live Well Alabama is launching a new series of tasty recipes starting with Grilled Cheese Surprise. Try something new and add healthy ingredients to a classic recipe.
- Butter, softened
- 8 slices of whole wheat bread
- 4 slices of cheese
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- Spinach leaves
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, in skillet. Top with cheese, tomato, and spinach. Put another slice of buttered bread, buttered side up, on top to complete the 4 sandwiches. Cook on medium heat for 2 minutes. Flip each sandwich over to toast the other side.
Live Well Alabama
Live Well Alabama is a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) initiative developed by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Auburn University. This initiative reaches residents across the state with research-based education.
“Our goal is to raise awareness of healthy lifestyle choices,” said Sondra Parmer, Alabama Extension specialist with SNAP-Ed. “Through this initiative, we hope individuals with limited budgets will make healthy food choices and choose physically active lifestyles.”
