AUBURN UNIVERSITY, Ala.— The Walker County Extension office invites producers to attend the “Grazier’s Tool Box and Pasture Walk” workshop Thursday, April 4 from 2 until 4 p.m. This on-farm demonstration in Eldridge, Ala. will show producers how to use temporary fencing to improve grazing management.

Producers will have an opportunity to learn more about:

  • Pasture Allocation
  • Forage Availability Estimation
  • Stocking Rate Selection
  • Temporary Fence Usage

Dr. Kim Mullenix, an Alabama Extension animal science specialist, said the team wanted to offer this program to allow producers to brush up on their skills related to grazing management.

“Improving pasture use can help extend the grazing season, and reduce cow carrying costs for beef producers,” Mullenix said. “Cow-calf producers who are interested in learning more about maximizing their forage use should plan to attend this workshop.”

To register, interested parties should RSVP to the Walker County Extension office by Friday, March 29 by calling 205-221-3392.
