AUBURN UNIVERSITY, Ala. – Alabama Extension’s Josh Elmore was recently named the 2018 recipient of the Outstanding Extension Educator award. The Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association (BCIA) presented this award as a part of their annual meeting in Montgomery. This award recognizes and honors an exceptional Extension Educator and their support and implementation of beef cattle performance programs in Alabama.
Elmore, a regional agent of animal science and forages, has made a consistent impact in beef cattle performance programs across Alabama. Working directly with producers, Elmore provides educational programs related to forages and livestock. These opportunities provide producers with the necessary information to make informed management decisions.
“I am honored to be selected as the Outstanding Extension Educator by the Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association,” Elmore said. “I am very grateful for the recognition received for my work.”
In addition to his educational work, he also promotes beef cattle record keeping through Alabama BCIA. He also works with multiple heifer and bull sales, educational events and many extension programs. He has coordinated heifer development demonstrations for several years at three of the Auburn University Research and Extension Centers.
The Alabama BCIA is a non-profit organization seeking to promote, educate and facilitate the use of performance data, record keeping and marketing opportunities to improve the Alabama cattle industry. Formed in 1964, BCIA cooperates with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System of Auburn University under a formal agreement.
