ALABAMA A&M UNIVERSITY, Ala.—The Association of Natural Resources Extension Professionals (ANREP) and its Alabama Chapter released the names of 2022 award winners. Honorees include staff from Alabama Extension at Alabama A&M University (AAMU).

2022 Winners

This year the Bronze Award in the Promotional and Marketing Materials category went to the following environmental and communication professionals:

  • Karnita Garner
  • Tyler Mason
  • Roosevelt Robinson
  • Shannon Schoeneweiss
  • Allyson Shabel
  • Kerry Steedley
  • Wendi Williams

The team was honored for the promotion titled, Celebrating Earth Day 2021: Restore Our Earth, in observance of Earth Day and Earth Month.

Steedley is also the recipient of the Outstanding Youth Education Program Award from the ANREP Alabama Chapter. She was honored for the Dothan Teen Nature Club (DTNC) which encourages youth to turn off digital devices and engage in outdoor environmental activities. The DTNC is delivered in partnership with the Dothan Houston County Library System and Project Learning Tree. The program is also supported by the Wiregrass Resource Conservation and Development Council and the Renewable Resources Extension Act program.

“It’s always a pleasure to be honored by your peers and to be a member of a dynamic team that consistently delivers outstanding programming. These educational efforts are key to developing youth and adults sensitive to issues impacting the environment,” said Garner.

Garner is an environmental specialist and leads the forestry, wildlife, and natural resources team for Alabama Extension at AAMU.
