AUBURN UNIVERSITY, Ala. – Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alabama 4-H Center is open for business and ready to safely serve families looking for fun activities. This premier environmental education center is located in Columbiana, Alabama and is part of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Auburn University.
Kristy Abrams, 4-H Center assistant manager, said the center has made efforts to safely host events this year for families looking to spend some quality time together.
“Throughout this year, the 4-H Center has hosted many wonderful family events,” Abrams said. “Currently, the center is hosting Homeschool Days on Wednesdays and Fridays and also has two events coming up that the entire family can enjoy while staying socially distant.”
The 4-H Center is offering the following events:
Attend pre-selected science classes taught by the 4-H Science School, followed by lunch provided by the 4-H Center and a fun afternoon outdoor adventure. The cost to attend is $25 per person. Limited space is available through Nov. 13 to ensure proper social distancing.
Night Under the Stars
Join the 4-H Science School for a night under the stars Nov. 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. Enjoy a campfire, a space themed craft and a night hike. Attendees can bring their own dinner or purchase food provided by the center. The cost to attend is $15 per person.
Enjoy a day full of food, shopping, tailgating and more through the 4-H Center’s first Winter Festival Dec. 5. The festival will also include an outdoor movie and an opportunity to visit the Nature Center. The advance ticket price is $5 per person.

“The Alabama 4-H Center is open for business and ready to serve you for your next conference, retreat, wedding or simply overnight lodging to enjoy beautiful Lay Lake,” Abrams said. “We have a variety of exquisitely clean lodging and meeting spaces to keep your group safe and socially distanced.
