to Stream Restoration Using Natural Channel Design --
Space is limited to the first 35 registrants.
Workshop
will be held at the beautiful Birmingham
Botanical Gardens.
Stream restoration and mitigation requirements are
moving more and more towards natural channel design techniques.
This 2 ½ day workshop will introduce basic concepts of stream
restoration using natural channel design. Time will be split between
classroom and extensive field work, including project / data summaries
and evening work sessions. Classroom work will review natural channel
design principles, restoration case studies, and the Rosgen classification
system. Field techniques for stream condition assessment and the
Rosgen classification system will be covered in detail.
| The workshop will center on a degraded urban stream
that flows through the grounds of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Greg
Jennings, Ph.D., P.E. of North Carolina State University
will emphasize urban stream conditions specific to the southeastern
U.S. Workshop instructors have experience working on more than
50 stream assessments and restoration projects throughout the
Southeast. Each participant will receive a reference manual.
