QUESTION:
Is there a link between arsenic contaminated drinking water and the incidence of Type 2 diabetes?
ANSWER:
Valid data are not available to prove whether this is true or not at this time, but some scientists believe there may be a link and this possibility is being investigated. It has been shown that arsenic can damage the DNA repair mechanism that defends against cancer, and this strengthens the possibility of a link to diabetes.
