Documents
published by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES)
are designated as such and are produced in cooperation with a
subject matter specialist. Non-ACES documents are available via
links to other sites. Comments regarding any documents not produced
locally should be directed to their respective authors.

Policies
- Names of agency clients are to
be held in strict confidence by volunteers. Inappropriate
use of confidential material or information is sufficient grounds
for termination of your volunteer service.
- Client records
are not to be reviewed by volunteers/field experience/internship
except with permission from supervisor.
- Ongoing training meetings at
the volunteer site are part of the volunteer's job. Attendance
is required unless you are excused by the immediate supervisor.
- If you are going to be absent
from your volunteer site or field experience/internship,
please give your supervisor advance notice.
- Volunteers should accept assignments
given to them by staff at work site. If you cannot
accept or finish an assignment, talk it over with
your supervisor.
- If you are unable to continue
your volunteer service, please give a two-week notice
to the AAMU Service-Learning Network office, your site manager/coordinator,
and your immediate supervisor at the agency.
- Please be sensitive to the needs
of other staff for a quiet workplace and uninterrupted
work time.
- Please do not use the telephone
to make personal phone calls. If you must make a telephone
call, ask permission from your supervisor.
- Always sign in and out
when you report to the work site. Weekly contact/hourly
sheets should be completed and initialed by your supervisor
and turned in bi-weekly to the site manager/coordinator, director,
or department.
- Feel free to ask your supervisor or
a staff member for any information you need to perform
your job more efficiently, If you are not sure how to
handle a situation, talk it over with your supervisor.
- Volunteers' service performance
will be formally evaluated by their supervisor at the
volunteer site.
- The volunteers may be asked to
evaluate the collaborating agency in which they
are performing volunteer service.
- Volunteers are entitled to references,
awards, and incentives.
- Volunteers requiring a verification
letter for community service hours must submit a request
to the Service-Learning Network Coordinator, the site
director, or departmental advisor or teacher.
