Job Summary

Provides leadership for the development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of impactful Extension programs designed to meet the needs of families in changing environments with a focus on urban, nontraditional and underserved audiences. Designs programs to promote strong families through-out the life cycle including but not limited to parenting, grand-parenting, family relationships, work and family, family and child development, family diversity, successful aging, and global perspectives. Provides professional expertise in in-service training to Extension agents and relevant program staff, and develops state-of-the-art, research-based, and technology appropriate information including publications, presentations, visuals aids, television/radio releases, computer-based products and other resources appropriate to all ages to support county, state, regional, national and international Extension outreach for the state of Alabama. Designs program evaluations instruments and maintains data bases. Interacts with University professionals, other state and federal agencies and community organizations to build collaborations to advance education and outreach to Alabama families. Provides assistance to other specialists and academic departments to incorporate family and consumer sciences subject matter into family related projects and educational program.
